Documentary storytelling that sparks empathy & inspires action
Partnering with nonprofits & community advocates in Central Texas
Hi! I’m Kenny Miracle (my real last name), an Austin-based filmmaker with a passion for ethical, human-centered stories.
For nearly two decades, I’ve been story producing & editing award-winning documentaries about under-represented people & critical social issues like gender-based violence, homelessness, and disability. The films have been distributed by Netflix and screened at Oscar-qualifying film festivals, college campuses, the U.N., and international parliaments.
I started Miracle Films to bring this experience to nonprofits & mission-driven organizations in my community. My goal is to support your efforts for positive impact & elevate the stories you’re witnessing every day.

MY APPROACH TO WORKING WITH NONPROFITS
I’ve spent two decades partnering with nonprofits & independent filmmakers. So I know how to work with vulnerable populations, limited budgets, and sensitive subject matters requiring nuance. This is why I approach each project as a creative partner, not merely a vendor, and without the overhead of a full studio.
Usually, I work as a solo filmmaker to keep costs low while still delivering high quality work. Sometimes I embed with an organizations communications or development team, functioning as a creative lead and bringing in specialized contractors as needed. And sometimes I join an established creative team to provide a specific service.
Here’s what I can do for your organization:
-
When a project needs more than a solo filmmaker, I step into a directing and producing role. That means developing a budget and production plan aligned with your organization's vision, partnering with a producer, and overseeing a small team of specialized contractors through every phase of production. You get the creative leadership of an experienced director without the cost of a full production company.
-
I shoot documentary-style — which means I'm comfortable in unscripted, unpredictable environments. Interviews, b-roll, vérité footage, and live events. I work efficiently as a solo operator, which keeps costs down without sacrificing quality.
-
After cutting nearly a dozen feature-length documentaries, I've developed an approach that blends classical screenwriting technique with modern editing craft — finding the film inside the footage, shaping structure, identifying emotional beats, and knowing when to let a moment breathe.
-
Every film needs a final layer of polish before it reaches an audience. I coordinate color grading, sound mixing, music, animation, subtitles, and translations through a team of trusted contractors, or handle them myself when the budget calls for it. Either way, your film will meet the technical requirements of wherever it's going, whether that's social media, film festivals, or streaming platforms.
“Working with Kenny was a pleasure. His video for our Go and Do Likewise refugee housing program powerfully captured the message and sensitivity we wanted to convey. He is an artist and craftsman.”
